Windows® 7 compatible IR remote controlled transmission/reception unit developed

We are pleased to announce the development of an “IR remote controlled transmission/reception unit” for personal computers installed with “Windows® 7”, the new operating system of Microsoft.  Marketing to the PC and peripheral device manufacturers commenced in August 2009.

As the partner recognized by Microsoft, we have developed a Windows® 7-compatible IR remote controlled transmission/reception unit <IR remote control (transmitter), USB transceiver (transmitter/receiver), USB receiver, IR blaster (extension cable with a transmission section)>.

The major feature of this IR remote control unit (transmitter) is the provision of a start button for the “Windows® 7 Media Center function (Note 1)” specified by Microsoft, and the user is able to easily switch from TV, videos or DVD.  Furthermore, for the protocol (IR format), the use of the “Quatro Pulse (Note 2)” which we have developed and gained recognition from Microsoft has become possible, in addition to the RC6 that has been previously used.

The USB transceiver has a learning function and remembers the remote control signals used at home and stores it in a PC.  This enables the users to call such signals so that other in-home equipment such as set-top box can be controlled via an IR blaster by using a Windows® 7 PC.
