SMK Develops Resistive Film/Glass Touch Panel
with Carbon Nanotube Film "D2 F/G-CNT",
which Features High Durability and Light Input Feeling
SMK has developed a resistive film/glass touch panel “D2 F/G-CNT”* which features a carbon nanotube (CNT) film that has been directly decorated. By using CNT film, it achieved an improved durability in comparison with the previous product with Indium Tin Oxide (ITO) film “D2 F/G”.
In general, resistive touch panels use transparent electrode ITO film, which is vulnerable to repeated touch operation and bending. The “D2 F/G-CNT”, however, uses CNT film featuring high flexibility and tensile strength, resulting in enhanced flex resistance and durability. The use of CNT will also help to reduce the use of indium, one of rare metals, contributing to supplying the product for a long period and reduction of environmental loads.
Decoration will be directly printed on the wiring part of the CNT film, and that eliminates decorative sheet which is typically required for touch panels. As a result, it achieved reduction of the number of components, product thinness, and light input feeling.
The maximum size of the touch panel is 15 inches, and it will be promoted for a wide variety of uses such as copying machines and industrial equipment which require light load operations and high reliability.
For controlling this product, SMK recommends its standard touch panel controller.
