Occupational Health and Safety

SMK strives to enable employees to lead pleasant and enriched lives by guaranteeing a comfortable and safe work environment through various initiatives.

Governance Structure

Under the CSR/Sustainability Committee, we have established a Labor/Human Rights Committee to promote occupational health and safety activities. The Labor/Human Rights Committee also oversees the Occupational Safety and Health Committee at each business site.
The Occupational Safety and Health Committees consist of representatives from both the company and employees. Through monthly meetings, we work to ensure a comfortable and safe work environment.
Our Dongguan factory in China has obtained ISO 45001 certification, establishing a world-class occupational health and safety management system.

Efforts to Ensure Safety

Eradicating Work-Related Accidents

SMK is working on health and safety initiatives at each site with the goal of zero work-related accidents. When an accident does occur, we discuss preventive measures across the entire group to avoid similar accidents from occurring again.

Safety Education

In order to achieve a safe and secure workplace with zero work-related accidents, we actively conduct safety awareness activities and provide education on health and safety rules.

Disaster Preparedness Drill

Each year, all of our business sites organize firefighting and evacuation drills to enhance employee safety and raise disaster awareness. Additionally, we have set up automated external defibrillators (AEDs) at the head office to assist not only employees but also local residents.

Promotion of Employee Health

SMK values the importance of each employee leading a healthy and fulfilling life, both physically and mentally, and we are working to support their well-being.

Health Maintenance

To maintain and improve employee health, we share information from the health insurance association and health-related announcements and campaigns through the internal portal and morning messages. We also promote health check-ups and retests, aiming for a 100% participation rate.

Mental Health Care

As part of our efforts in mental health care, we prioritize prevention and hold annual mental health self-care training to improve our employees' ability to cope with stress. Additionally, we have enhanced our counseling support by professionals from contracted medical institutions and in-house advisors, while working toward the early detection of mental health issues and providing support for returning to work through our rehabilitation program.
